Desaru - Part 2
Tuesday, May 20, 2008

Desaru could be aptly summarized in one word I guess: HOT. I knew Malaysia was hotter than Singapore, but I never knew that it could be THAT scorching. As we all know, a picture speaks a thousand words, so here's a visual illustration of just how hot it was:

I must admit, it being my first time to Desaru, I had no idea whatsoever about the terrain there. I only heard it was hilly from friends. Oh well, hilly. Mandai's quite hilly too, I thought. But after this trip, I honestly think Mandai is a hump compared to Desaru. So we climbed, we cursed, and some of us pushed ourselves so hard, you could see salt literally coming out of our body!

NO, that is not leftover shampoo. It's salt. But at the end of the day, it was a good training trip and I think all our fitness levels definitely jumped a notch from just 2 days of riding about 90km/day. Seriously, 90km in Desaru feels more like 180km man. It also helped quite abit for our morale to come back from a loooong and tiring ride to this:

All thanks to Xihao's uncle and aunt, who helped us greatly with the accomodation and made sure that we were well taken care of during our time there. I think it is a team consensus that we will be headed up to Desaru again, perhaps in a few week's time. Till the next time we hit the hills!
