Hi all!It was an awesome ride up to Kukup over the weekend with a nice dosage of rain, sun and ALOT of food. Well I guess that's what you get when you put 7 hungry boys together and make them ride for a long. long. long. way.we were slightly delayed on Saturday morning by the downpour in Singapore, which also meant that most of you were happily snug in your beds while we waited it out at Kranji MRT. When the weather finally cleared and we made our way to the Causeway, happily facing us was the normal morning jam. Deciding to risk our lives and joining the motorcycle queue, it took us 45mins to clear customs!After forever, we were off and since only Lester knew the way there, we were all happy to sit back and let him pull us..haha..First pit stop was at a petrol kiosk about 50kms into the ride. All the way through we were happily swapping jokes until the rain decided to fall again, putting a dampener on proceedings. No matter, a shift next door for some prata and milo to warm us up.From then on, it was race towards Pon Tian for some of their..famous Wanton Mee, according to our pseudo foodies in Dennis and Jinx. and BOY did we eat again..wanton mee, claypot rice, chicken rice, tau huay..and the best part of eating in Malaysia? Nothing like old school, authentic kampung food. No food courts for us!The plan after lunch was a slow 20+km ride towards Kukup, or rest stop for the day..NOT! There was nothing slow about the ride there, post lunch. Tim (Tay) who had been itching to attack all day, but was held back because he didn't know the route, launched his best Paris-Roubaix impersonation on the rough roads of Malaysia. He was quickly joined by JB, aka Arnold.Rest of us were slow to react, but I had to bring them back, in the interests of riding as a group of course. No intention of wanting to join them in the breakaway whatsoever. None. Chasing for a good 2-3km or so I finally caught them, dragging the rest of the group back up with me as well. As James put it..it was a 'tau huay up to the throat' moment.right, that's it for the Kukup trip updates for now, stay tuned for photos, and the next episode where we rushed out of our slumber in sudden shock of the happenings....

Ride From The Heart is a charity expedition in aid of the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. We will be cycling a total distance of 1500km from Phuket to Singapore in July 2008.
100% of ALL proceeds/donations/pledges will go straight towards the STPMF.

Why are we doing this?
The objective of this expedition is to lead a team of 13 varsity students who will cycle a distance of over 1500km in 14 days along the West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia and past the border of Thailand up to Phuket.
The route will take us through over 20 towns, numerous major states in Malaysia and Thailand.
With such a huge distance, this expedition is certainly a huge challenge and test of our personal mental and physical limits.
At the end of this trip, we hope that we will not only emerge as stronger individuals, but also as individuals with a heart to help and impact the world that we live in.
Besides our desire to help the children of ST pocket Money Fund, this expedition is in a way an opportunity to live our personal dreams and passions. We feel that combining our personal dreams and passions with community work is a more sustainable way of contributing back.
With this expedition, we hope to reach out to other youths and inspire them; that in addition to living our (their) dream, we (they) can help the less privileged achieve theirs as well. This we hope, will leave an impact beyond that of our expedition.

Route
Our expedition will start off from the island of Phuket and end in Singapore.
To name a few, we will pass through Penang, Lumut, Kuala Selangor, Port Dickson before ending off at Singapore.
